The Olympic Stadium is simply not fit for football, say experts.....
Well some of us didn't need to be professional 'experts' to tell you all this years ago.
From the Daily Heil...

Can't wait to hear how the Baroness counters this. '150,000 on the waiting list blah, blah, etc.'

Must be some kind of weirdo to want to watch someone run from that end of the track to the other end. IMO!

You mean the recent two day event that was nowhere near a sell out? How often will we get the world champs or the olympics?

The WCs may sell out. But other meets wont. And as for saying CP is a pain to get to its hardly the arse end of the world. Zone 3 and now on the tube. Nearer or the same distance of Wembley to central London. For one of events location should not be an issue. Of course I keep forgetting about the world class transport links Stratford has

I'll ask the question again: if these people are 'experts' why did they not recognise that the stadium is not fit for football, and voice these opinions, before a ball was kicked there?

**Athletics is woefully attended in this country.**

And yet whenever I've been to the OS for athletics it has been packed. 'Cos CP is a shithole and a pain to get to, and the OS isn't.

Hasans, next year our start to the season will be disrupted by guess what......Yes the world athletics championships. And the British public will make the event a sell out.........once again.

Comma. A legacy that could have been given by chucking a few quid at the track in crystal palace. Iirc that was something the y words put in their bid. Athletics is woefully attended in this country. Barely selling out diamond league meetings at CP, which has a capacity of 20k or so.

Went for the first time on Wednesday, so can only judge it on that one experience so far. However, I thought it was blinding, both the surrounding area and the inside.

Sure, there are things not perfect about it but then I would have probably thought the same going to UP for the first time, if for the fact I weren't 6 at the time.

I love the walk there from Pudding Mill and think it has all the potential for making it a right edgy and intimidating place for away fans - exactly what I want it to be like.

I also love the massive continuous concourse, in particular the party decks - something I would never believe I would have going off some of the reports by posters on here. There's surely nothing else like that at any other ground and I think they really have the potential for making a great atmosphere whilst having a beer, whilst still feeling like you're very much near the action on the pitch.

Thought the view was excellent from block 130. Likewise the space between the seats, given the opportunity to stand in amongst each other without necessarily having seats next to each other. Also gave enough room to jump about without having bruised shins the next day!

Absolutely loved the acoustics of the place and the way you could clearly hear what was being song in other parts of the ground. Really sounded the nuts when the whole place sung in unison.

Like I say definitely stuff not perfect and of course it would be much better if the stands were right up against the touch line and you could tap players on the shoulder (call em cunts right in their lug), alike the old chicken run, but them days and stadium don't exist in the top leagues anymore.

Again, my opinion is only formed so far from one game there, which being under the lights, in the cup against Chelsea was always going to be better than an early Sunday afternoon game against some small tinpot northern side. However, the whole experience very much felt like West Ham to me and proved without doubt to me that it has the potential not only to continue that way, but actually be better than a lot of us could have hoped for.

In a way the media slagging it and us off makes it even better and finally we are losing that everyone's 2nd team bollocks.

Johnson - I know you have made well clear your feelings and view about the move, the board and shit experience had since we've been playing there. However, surely Wednesay gave you some hope?

yes but it should have been a football stadium first ie Man City and an athletics stadium second as the designer had originally recommended

backpass, the IOC set certain conditions when granting the Olympics to a nation and one of them was an athletics stadium legacy.

Re: The Olympic Stadium is simply not fit for football, say experts.....
This whole fiasco is down to Lord 'fucking' Coe. the middle class prick who thought people would be interested in athletics after the Olympics, when they can't get 7000 people in Crystal Palace three times a year. The government should also hold their heads in shame for letting him get away with it.

I don't want one, people should just stop comparing the two as bullshit like pod's post just stokes it up.

The gaff is SHIT, we've made it sound intimidating ONCE and then what happens? Loads of do gooding, holier than thou cunts who now see the opportunity to get the sanitised club they've always craved because our fans stood up for themselves and returned missiles and goading with interest.

I think The London Stadium is great They (Media) simply hate that it has gone to West Ham, they even hate that West Ham are getting 50.000 plus crowds in it every time they play there.

As Takashi says below the more they moan about it the more they slag it off, the more I will love it.
